Founded by a Vietnam Veteran & Purple Heart Recipient
Americal Patrol was founded in 1986 by Don Peterson, a Purple Heart recipient who served in the U.S. Army's Americal Division during the Vietnam War, the only Army division known by name rather than number. Today the company is led by Sam Alarcon and continues to operate on the same principles: discipline, accountability, and a personal commitment to every property we protect.
For 40 years we have served property managers, business owners, and HOA boards across Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties. Never the largest firm in the room, always the most reliable.

How much does a security guard cost?
Cost depends on the service type, the hours you need covered, and the size and risk profile of your property, so we price every job to the risk it actually carries instead of to a flat rate card. There are no setup fees. We walk the property, recommend the coverage that fits, and put the scope and hours in writing before anything starts. The assessment is always free.
Should I hire armed or unarmed security?
Most commercial, retail, and residential properties are served well by unarmed officers or marked mobile patrol. We recommend an armed post only when the risk genuinely justifies it, for example high value inventory, cash handling, or a site with a history of violent incidents. Every officer we assign is licensed and vetted under California PPO 9557, and we will tell you plainly when you do not need armed coverage.
How quickly can service start?
Faster than most people expect. Standard guard and mobile patrol coverage commonly starts within the same week once the scope is approved, and often sooner. Fire watch is the case we treat as urgent: when a fire alarm or sprinkler system goes down and the fire marshal requires coverage, we can frequently put an officer on site the same day. Call us and we will tell you exactly what we can staff and when.
